KNOXVILLE, TENN. - November 26, 2024 - UT Federal Credit Union (UTFCU) delivered some holiday cheer recently by bringing care packages to local families spending the Thanksgiving holiday in the neonatal intensive care units (NICU) of area Knoxville hospitals. The care packages, which are the result of planning and coordination by UTFCU's Kindness Committee, are part of a ten-year tradition and act as the official kickoff to a season of giving at the credit union. The care package is also part of UTFCU's ongoing effort to give back to the community.

Volunteers from the Kindness Committee, an internal committee within UTFCU created to drive volunteer and outreach initiatives at UTFCU, purchased, organized and transported the packages to East Tennessee Children's Hospital and the University of Tennessee Medical Center the week of Thanksgiving. The items, which range from toiletries to tasty treats and even some keepsakes, are intended to bring joy to families spending the holiday away from home while their babies receive care and medical attention.

"While this marks a decade of giving for UT Federal Credit Union, it is always an absolute joy to be able to bring this small token of cheer to these families on behalf of our organization," said Debbie H. Jones, CPA, President and Chief Executive Officer of UT Federal Credit Union. "We hope this care package is able to provide some semblance of normalcy while they are away from their homes, especially during times like the holidays, but we also hope it acts as a sign for the families of much better times to come," continued Jones.

UT Federal Credit Union, a community-driven organization, is always seeking ways to volunteer and give back to the communities it serves.
